Phoenix Desert Dragons is Arizona’s only breast cancer survivor dragon boat
team. The team, which was previously named Abreast in the West, was founded
in 2010 and started with just a handful of paddlers. Our team has since grown
to over 30 active members ranging in age from 28 to 78 years and from various
backgrounds, including those who are newly diagnosed to long-term survivors.
Our mission is to encourage fitness, health, and overall wellness among the
breast cancer survivor community while also providing hope that there is life
after cancer. We paddle because we can, we paddle for those who cannot, and
we paddle for those that have gone before us. We are survivors, we are athletes,
we are champions
