The Annapolis Dragon Boat Club is thrilled to be
participating in the ‘Olympics’ of dragon boating in
Florence! Thank you to the IBCPC and our sisters in
Italy for hosting us. The mission of our club, founded in
2010, is to promote the development of healthy bodies
and spirits, particularly for those recovering from breast
and other cancers. Now with nearly 100 members, we
are devoted to building physical strength, endurance,
and confidence with an emphasis on recreation and
harmony while paddling on the beautiful Spa Creek of
Annapolis, Maryland. Our motto is “PADDLING WITH A
PURPOSE”. Once a month during the season we hold an open “Soft Paddle” where we take those in the community rehabilitating
or undergoing treatment out on the water for a less intense, relaxing paddle. In August 2017 our all-BCS team set a Guinness
World Record* by paddling a half-marathon (13.1 miles/21.1 kilometers) in 2 hours, 49 minutes, 59 seconds. We welcome other
teams to challenge our record. In doing so, we raise awareness of the disease and promote the healing of body and mind through
the wonderful sport of Dragon Boating. *Guinness World Record certification pending
